David Stiles career began in the early eighties when during a period of unemployment and lacking career direction, David would volunteer his time at the salon that his personal hairdresser owned. While helping to make clients feel comfortable and keep up on laundry, he was often mistaken for the owner’s apprentice. At the owner’s suggestion to pursue a career in hairdressing, David quickly discovered how well suited his once shy personality was in such a social atmosphere as a salon.

With an apprenticeship in the early eighties under internationally acclaimed stylist Chris Baran, David learned the foundations for his skills and the positive influence a great mentor can have on one’s career.

With nearly three decades of experience, David’s education credentials are immeasurable. With experience as varied as student to teacher, and everything in between, David knows all facets of his craft.

Having previously worked for Arq from 1997 to 2002, David personifies the companies value to provide growth and opportunity to stylists at any stage of their career advancement and returned to Arq in 2010 as share holder and artistic director of education.

David’s natural skill, knowledge and technical abilities are complemented by his sincere desire to share knowledge and make people feel comfortable.
