Born in Japan and raised in the Westshore community, Emma began styling hair at the age of five for her two sisters.
Knowing from an early age that she wanted to pursue her natural, artistic abilities as a stylist, Emma joined Arq Westshore in 2007 under the apprenticeship program. Having the confidence to identify her own learning style, she decided that a one on one education as an apprentice was ideal for her. Now a stylist for more than two years, it was a decision she refers to as “A great experience that she would highly recommend.”
Emma’s technical skills in classic and contemporary cutting and colouring are a strong reflection of her dedication to her craft and influence in ‘principle based design,’ an education model based on the natural laws of point, line and angle to create, enhance and individualize shape, color and design.
With a philosophy to compliment and respect what the hair wants to do, Emma’s polished and professional finesse in the art of “dressing” hair has made her a specialist in ‘styling’ and special occasion hair.
Emma speaks Japanese and English and her interest outside of Arq are music and traveling.
